What is the reason for you wanting to leave your current guild?
- Guildmaster after obtaining SM left guild with 12 core raiders, disrupted the peace and stability of the guild. Was commander and raid leader for both G1 and G2 of Secrets. Things were never the same again, but we have to move on.
Part A
Raiding Information
Communication is important, we use English for raiding. Do you speak English? Do you have vent? Do you have a mic and do you speak on vent when required?
- English is my mother tounge, after a couple of rounds German and Russian becomes fluent. Im serious, I slur.
Do you have a stable connection, and do you suffer from regular disconnection issues?
15mbps/Singtel. I hardly disconnect, which is always great for raiding.
What is your average FPS and Latency in Dalaran and Ulduar/ToTC/ToGC Raids?
- 230 ms and 50-60 fps during raid. I have an alienware desktop coming in 3 weeks. Should get better
Our raiding time is ST11pm to 3am (with day light saving, in GMT term, it's 8pm to 12am GMT+8) Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Monday. Can you meet all these raiding days and times? If not please specify the day/time that you cannot meet and reason, do not apply if you cannot at least make 3 full days.
- Raid times are the same in my current guild
It is expected you have thorough raiding experience and know ALL encounters and hard modes currently in game. Please list out the followings:
- Raiding experience in TBC (pre-nerf 3.0 raids).
I have successfully completed MC, BWL, SSC, TK, BT and some of Sunwell.
- Raiding experience in WotLK prior to Ulduar.
Completed all content except Sunwell
- Ulduar hard mode done in 10m and 25m version.
Completed hardmode in 10m and 25 man version. Drakes for both 10 and 25 and Algalon killed on 10 and 25.
- ToGC(this refers to hard mode) 10m and 25m.
Completed Insanity + mount on 10m. Completed 25 HM.
- ICC 10m and 25m.
ICC 10M - HM 9/12 (i dont have a regular group, i help out alot of other teams for their progression)
ICC 25M - HM 11/12 (I havent got the chance to kill PP, on Heroic LK p2)
Based on your experience in Ulduar/ToGC, explain what you perceive your character's role in the raids.
- I have to be absolutely detailed about my raiding style as a DK. DPS is always essential and important not just to a DK but to any class. If i am being asked to zerg something, like most ppl, we would be more then happy to zerg.
My playing style allows me to zerg as hard as I can, but when i see a clothie being chased by adds. I will stop dps and chains the add and switch to CC mode. As a dps class, there are 15 other raiders who can burn boss. If my actions can help save a raider from being killed, or help out healers (so they need not heal the dude getting attacked my mob). Then I think I play my class relatively well. Staying alive = more raid dps. Here are a few examples
Marrowgar - Spikes are piority, switching means screwing up rotations. But it is top piority
LDW - P1 - Adds are most important, range can take the glory on boss. I will chains and deathgrip adds to ease up. Also to keep ebon plaugue up on boss to mantain the 13% spell dmg boost.
LDW - P2 - Dps not important, staying alive and running away from ghosts, will chain adds when tank kites to other side. reduce healing and dmg taken as the tankes relatively more dmg is facing away from the add.
Blood prince - Not willing to take more stacks then necessary. Too much melee on vortex, Id rather stay out and help on kinetic bombs. Might kill or knockback healer = tank death = raid wipe
BQL - Will not tunnel boss till airphase, melee cluster and when feared will cause high raid dmg and even death. Will move to side when BQL starts airphase. Other guilds use melee to stand in centre, where u can tunnel when boss move to mid. Depends on raid positioning tbh.
Dreamwalker - More interested in running away from Blazing and chains on zombie, taunt back to side when it is close to exploding near raid. decreases raid dmg by kiting.
Sindra - Refuse to take more dmg then required on stacks.
*these are some examples of my playing style. If I can help ease a healer or two cos i did something useful besides dps? That could prevent a death or a raid wipe. If a healer has less to heal, the healer can react to additional tank healing etc. To me there more to it then just dps. Of course if you tell me to burn boss ignore whatever, I would have a huge smile on my face.
In your opinion, what is the most difficult boss encounter in WotLK you have ever defeated and why? What was your role in that encounter, please elaborate in details.
- Most difficult is PP and LK! Cos I havent tried PP HM and on P2 LK. If i havent killed a boss, its hard. When its down, its not really that difficult. ICC is not the hardest content yet. Personally Sunwell is back in the day. That was tough.
- Bosses become difficult only because 25 man is not in sync. 25 raiders need to kill the boss with as little mistakes as possible. Or none. (prefer latter)
Pls post a screen shot of your raid UI. (Screenshot has to be in combat and not in town)
Im at work so I cant SS it. Basically its far camera range with UIs really small. Gives me alot of screen freedom, its clean and clear. So i can see the entire fight and keep a look out easier (mallable goo, shadow traps etc). I like it clean and simple, less distracting.
Pls provide a recent WOL/WMO/Recount report of a raid that you attended.
I will try to upload a recount as soon as I can.
What do you do to prepare for an unfamiliar or new boss encounter?
Read, read, read, ask, ask, ask. Watch vids, watch HD ones. Can see exactly whats going on and when.
What is more important to you: loot or progression? Tell us why.
Id be a liar if loot wasnt important. I think a good balance between both is good. Loot is not important if it increases raid damage. Im all for it. But if for selfish reasons e.g. Loot everything and not show up for raids. then im against it like most ppl.
I just want to raid. Loot will naturally come. I think its a honest and fair statement. I passed on H DBW and SM, think im quite ok ;p
What do you think about staying beyond the required raid times to down new content?
- Why not? As long as the raid is up for it and ppl not giving up. Or else results will get worse, then its not productive
What does guild mean to you?
A home. My guild got wrecked by a selfish lying bastard.
Do you play actively outside of raiding?
Sports and some ps3. No time really.
Do you have any well-geared alts? If so, please provide an Armory Link.
I have a priest healer, 5800 GS. But its just for fun, not competitive healing.
What makes you different from other applicants? Why should Shidavere choose you?
I would like to think that Im easy and friendly as hell person IRL and in game. But I take myself as a thinking raider, trying to find ways to imporve the boss fights, trying out new things. (I gemmed strength + haste to see if it pulls better). I take the time to regem all my gear and try out for myself if its better. I dont take EJ posts for real and would rather experiment for myself. Maybe my playing style brings out better results. Who knows? Try lah...
Part B
Is there any Shidavere member who can vouch for you?
Nope, Jazzmeen (new applicant) recommended
Is there anything else you think we should know about you?
Im chilled out with a stupid grin on my face half the time. I work in Credit Suisse AG. Its an invesment bank and I enjoy soccer and music, aside from women and booze.
How can we contact you outside of the game?
